Simply Romanov Restaurant.

I was born and raised for the first 16 years of my life in beautiful, but oh so very cold part of Russia - Siberia. With its rich world history, Russian culture is full of traditions, and weddings are no exceptions. Having to reread Leo Tolstoi's "Anna Karenina" recently, I was inspired by all the beauty and luxury of the time period to create the shoot.

Wedding celebration could last anywhere from a day to a week, with fun games, in which guests and newlyweds are adamant participants. Sometimes, a bride might be "stolen" from the groom, and he, together with his groomsmen, would need to find her to "buy her out" just in time for the wedding - no bride, no wedding. She is usually hidden at her parents house, as she will be leaving it to go to her husband house.

One of the oldest wedding traditons is breaking of bread and eating it with salt. The bread represents Russian hospitality as it was the most respected food and the salt represents long friendship. Historically, Russia has had a very high tax on salt, so, it was seen as a symbol of prosperity as well - greating guests with a loaf of bread and having them eat it with salt showed how wealthy a household is. When it came to weddings, traditionally, mother of the bride bakes a loaf of bread for the newlyweds to tear a piece off of. Whoever breaks the larger piece off, is the head of the household. The bread gets put on a beautiful Rushnyk, an embroidered ceremonial cloth.

Also, at one point during a ceremony, as a bride dances, guests throw money at her and she sweeps it with a broom - the more money she sweeps, the wealthier a house will be.

Simply David Tutera and his "My Fair Wedding".

Earlier in the year,  I received an e-mail asking me if I would like work with We TV channel, on the "My Fair Wedding" show of David Tutera. Without a hesitation, I said yes, and I am happy I did. To have a chance to work with such great wedding producer was an honor and pleasure.

You could see the video of the opening episode to the Fall 2012, season 5 premier episode of "My Fair Wedding" here. It is lengthy as it is beautiful, you are more than welcome to watch the entire clip, but I went ahead and just froze some frames for you, showing my work.

Here is the final mockup for the show, before the final touches, such as the information was added to it.

Simply ComiCon.

art by Tomer Hanuka

ComiCon came and went, but in my mind the only thing I could think of, "If a fan of ComiCon came to me, asking to design their  wedding invitation, in the spirit of the event, how would I approach such challenge?" Well, this is my take on a wedding stationery for a couple that loves ComiCon, for the kids in them. Enjoy!

Simply Olympics inspired wedding suite.

photography by Miller and Miller Photography, Chicago

The Summer Olympics in London are upon us, and to commemorate such occasion I felt like designing an invitation suite. Custom envelope for the invitation itself, using a photograph from an engagement session of the couple (those pictures usually end up unseen by anyone, so, why not design a save the date with it or use them in a custom guestbook). Enjoy!

Simply lucky :-)

When a Japanese corporation that designs and builds five star hotels not only in Japan, but internationally, asks you to design stationery for their mock up wedding banquettes, you answer: "Thank you, please come again!" Of course they didnt call me on my cell phone, but a fantastic wedding producer, Gianna Provenzano, rather, but it kinda sorta felt like that for a moment. They started out with twenty designs at the beginning of the project, but wanted to be a bit more realistic half way through it, so, we ended up with five. Final pictures are yet to come, but here is a glimpse of one of the mock ups. There were place cards and table numbers to be designed by me. Do you see the place cards?

I can now say "we have gone international" :-)

More pictures to come soon. "Thank you, please come again!"

Simply a logo.

One of the things I absolutely love to design are logos. It is such a small things, and yet it is very important - from just one glance, the viewer of the logo has to get a feeling of what the  logo represents, and at times that is a fortune 500 company in the making.

I have made a friend recently, who I think is on her way to greatness. She asked on Facebook if anybody would design a logo for her and I could not say "no", as I could design logos all day long for free, but I do have those pesky little things called "bills", and so, designing logos for friends is something that I do from time to time. Here is what we came up with. What do you think?

She was also in need of a business card, and here it is.

In the works will be labels for her fantastic products as well.

Simply bachelorette tea party.

There are several important parts to the process of getting engaged and then planning a wedding. One of them is a bachelorette party. It can be as liberal or sophisticated as the bride, but most important thing is for it to be memorable. This styled shoot for a bachelorette party was inspired by a low tea party. Shot in the desert, we were all freezing by the end of the shoot, but we had so much fun :-) The color palette for the shoot was navy blue and yellow, which meant lemons and blueberries as the centerpiece, ice cubes frozen with blueberries in them, navy blue rentals and sparkling water in navy blue bottles. The invitation to the party was in the form of a muslin tea bag, with the invitation itself inside of it. The place cards were lemons with guests' names written on them. The card box rested on a set of four suite cases, older than the world. The menu was framed beautifully, listing all of the sweets and savories, tea infused cocktails and teas. Our model wore a dress from the latest collection by Beane and Company.
